HEMP SEED OIL

History of Hemp Seed Oil
- Hemp contains the 10 essential amino acids that we need to consume from our food. The proteins in hemp are more easily digestible than in meat, dairy, soy or other high protein foods. Protein can help to balance out low-sugar levels so you feel fewer cravings for unhealthy foods.
- Hemp is a great source of fibre which keeps you fuller for longer, is great for the digestive system and takes the edge off those food cravings as well.
- Hemp contains Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids which help to regulate blood sugar and insulin levels and reduce the risk of chronic inflammatory diseases such as diabetes and cancer. These essential fatty acids, linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) are present in hemp seeds in the optimum 4:1 ratio for human health.
- Hemp is a rare plant source of the omega 6 essential fatty acid, gamma linolenic acid or GLA, which has been shown in scientific studies to help control weight.
Hemp seed oil is great and can be used as a salad dressing, in smoothies, juices and even drizzled on toast, buns or muffins. Hemp oil should be kept in the fridge and not used for cooking, as high temperatures destroy the delicate essential fatty acids and any health benefits as well.
Hemp seed oil is a rich natural source of EFAs and has multiple benefits. Imported hemp seed oil is available from Mokshalifestyle Products in Delhi and they are willing to ship all over India and even overseas. Please see their website: www.mokshalifestyle.com
HEMP SEED

History of Hemp Seed Oil
When harvested, the hemp seeds are covered with a crunchy outer shell. Hemp seeds can be eaten with the shells on, in which case they are lightly toasted and naturally flavoured for a crunchy snack. Hemp seeds with the shells removed are called hulled hemp seeds and they are quite soft with a nutty taste.
Hemp seeds are perfect for people who are allergic to nuts, gluten or lactose. There are no reported allergies to hemp.
Hemp seeds can be sprinkled onto anything, muesli, porridge, salads, stir-fries (after cooking). They are great in smoothies, for making chutneys , and can be used for sweet treats too. Hemp milk can be made from hulled hemp seeds in an ordinary blender. A glassful of hemp milk will provide many of the vitamins, minerals and protein required by the body.
Hemp seed is a rich natural source of EFAs. Organic hemp seed is available from Supra Organics based in Dehradun and they are willing to ship all over India. Please see their website: www.supraorganics.com
KHANDSARI SUGAR

History of Khandsari Sugar
India is the birthplace, where the small scale Khandsari (sugar) industry was born and developed into a modern industry. The Khandsari sugar production, which was originally confined to the State of Uttar-Pradesh only, is now spread all over the country. It occupies an important place in the country's sugar economy. Around 45-50% of the total sugar cane produced in India is absorbed by the Khandsari industry which provides employment to about 2.5 million people. The brief manufacturing process includes cane crushing by mechanical rollers, concentration of cane juice (through boiling), crystallization, extraction of sugar in centrifuge and sugar drying. The byproduct bagasse, is burnt in furnace to provide heat for boiling the juice.
Khandsari sugar is fine with a dull appearance and does not have the bold, shining crystals of industrially manufactured refined sugar. But since the use of sulphur and other strong chemicals is absent in its production, it is the healthier option. However, very few grocery shops stock khandsari sugar in urban areas with the advent of industrial refined sugar and the change in people’s preferences.
Here are a few suppliers and stockists of Khandsari sugar:

BEE POLLEN

History of Bee Pollen
We all know that bees collect pollen as they go round drinking nectar from flowers. Back in the hive, the pollen is mixed with enzymes, fungi and other bacteria, before being stuffed by worker bees, using their heads, into empty cells in the hive. These act like mini ovens and the resulting product is known as bee pollen or bee bread. The resulting bee pollen is more nutritious than the untreated pollen and is the primary source of protein for the hive.
The exact nutritional breakdown for bee pollen varies greatly, from day to day even in the same hive, depending on which flowers are in season and being visited by the bees. However an average sample will contain something like ’55% carbohydrates, 35% proteins, 3% minerals and vitamins, 2% fatty acids, and 5% of diverse other components’ .
- Pollen functions as a natural energizer for the body, high in b-vitamins, vital for energy production at a cellular level.
- High concentration of lecithin helps with dissolving and flushing fat cells, as well as nourishing the cells of the brain.
- Helps to reduce food cravings thanks, in part, to the natural phenylalanine (an amino acid), which acts as a natural appetite suppressant.
- Helpful in restoring the health the reproductive system and promotes relief from the discomfort of PMS
- It helps speed up caloric burn by stimulating the metabolic system.
- Bee pollen benefits the immune system. It contains proteins, mono and polyunsaturated fats, vitamins B, C, D, E, and beta-carotene, calcium, magnesium, selenium, nucleic acids, lecithin, and cysteine, all of which have been proven effective in strengthening the immune system.
- Bee pollen helps you to cope more easily with stress thanks to the full profile of amino acids, essential fatty acids and vitamins. This sweet and dense combo helps regulate mood.
- The amino acids within Bee Pollen are precursors to human growth hormone (HGH). Bee Pollen also contains a gonadotropic hormone very similar to the human pituitary hormone, gonadotropin, which functions as a sex gland hormone. (Research conducted at various European Universities have shown in trials conducted with impotent men that more than half of those given bee pollen experienced a dramatic improvement of sperm and most gained a higher level of self-confidence, and were able to perform better sexually… after just one month of taking bee pollen)
Because real pollen contains wax and a small amount of honey, it quickly turns into a paste in India's climate. Pollen must be kept refrigerated otherwise it will ferment quickly.
For patients who are allergic to pollen or are asthmatic, it would be wise to give them only 3 grams of pollen each day and see their reaction. Ingesting the pollen may help their system overcome their allergy or it may not have any effect. The effects of pollen will vary from person to person. It can be used as a health supplement by people of all ages.
As the demand for bee pollen in India is almost non-existent very few beekeepers collect bee pollen on a regular basis. They collect it only upon demand. Ajay Saini is a beekeeper based in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh who collects both wild pollen and apiary pollen and sends it through parcel to interested customers. He can be reached at 09412130552.
